Our apartment has a pretty fantastic location. It's a 5-min walk from a small supermarket that has pretty much everything you'd need, and a 15-min walk from a couple 3-story hypermarkets (think: Super Walmart). We've needed a ton of household items these first few weeks, so we've made several hypermarket runs. Of course we could take a taxi. But why take a taxi when we can take backpacks? So we strap on our empty packs, shop around, and bring them back full... more than full actually, as you can see from the pictures. As you can imagine, a couple foreigners carrying fully-loaded backpacks down highly trafficed city streets tends to draw quite a bit of attention. But we figure we can always use the exercise... and the excuse to use our packs!

Wow Chels! That is such a "Chip" thing to do! ha! :) By the way, how much does a taxi cost?! Love you guys!
Dude, if your sister would have acutally read all of your blog comments she would know that you aren't fluent enough yet to tell that chinese taxi driver how to get you home again. Besides, I say "go green" and get the extra exercise then you can treat yourselves to all the Bing you can eat! :-) Loved the photos, keep them coming.
That does sound pretty "chip," doesn't it. Let me just say that I am a lucky man to be married to such a level-headed woman... who also likes to save the green. :)
actually I was thinking we may be willing to take up an offering to get you guys some taxi money, if you want?!
ha! we'll take it! (actually, taxis are pretty cheap here...my husband is just frugal beyond your wildest imagination!) thanks for thinking of us though!
WOW! What a great picture. So many new adventures for you!
Have a great week.
